    慢速英语是VOA很早就推出的英语听力频道，开创时间可追溯到1959年。与常速英语相比，慢速英语的语速比日常对话的语速慢了1/3，每分钟播报95个单词左右，而且播音人员只使用1500个左右的英语核心词汇，并避免使用过多的成语和习语，以避免给听众带来理解生词和习语上的困扰，慢速英语普遍面向于中等英语听力水平以下的听众。
